6 Random Things About Me

Since I have been tagged twice, Stephanie and Gina, I decided it was about time I did it.

Post the rules on your blog. Link to the person who tagged you. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

1. I am totally addicted to Books on Tape/CD. I check them out at the library and probably go through 3 a month and I only listen to them in the car unless I have to get them back to the library then I have been known to bring them in and play them.

2. I bought my first and only Ipod only 4 weeks ago. I have downloaded music a lot but I always put it on CD and listened in the car, but the books kind of took over that roll.

3. My house is neat but my craft room/office is a disaster. In fact I close the door when people come over.

4. I have a rule that I never leave the house in sweats. If I am working out then I do but I never take the little man to school in my sweatpants and slippers. Never! I am always showered and dressed no matter if it means getting up earlier.

5. I can not wear sandals with anything between the toes. I have one pair that I have had forever that I can but all others drive me crazy. This of course make sandal shopping a pain.

6. I have never had a pedicure! Nope, never.

I am chosing to tag nobody in particular. I am sure most people have already done this but if you want to do it and let me know about it consider yourself tagged.

FO Friday

Finally I got that right. Seems like I always post finished stuff when it is done and this just happened to be done today. Yes, the tank is done and I wish I could say that I love it. I really love it here.
Essential Tank
I mean look at the gorgeous colors in the yarn and I love how the lace looks and even the finishing turned out great. But look at it here.
Essential Tank
YIKES! I almost didn't even post this photo. I think it needs the black bar across the eyes to protect the innocent. It just doesn't work on me. The front top rolls down and the whole thing is too long. It also is too wide at the top since it really has no shaping and I had to make it that size if I wanted to get it over my chest. This was a time that waist shaping would of really helped as it is baggy there and just makes me have to shape at all. Maybe that is why the show the model with a belt on with it.

Oh well, next project please! I think I will just hang it in my office as I really like how it looks and then I can enjoy it without having to wear it. Lesson learned that shapeless pieces and me do not work.

Plans

I am so excited that we have reach the goal of $500 so that I can give away the stole. I know somebody is going to love it as the color, yarn and pattern together are great. There is still time to get in on this and I might throw in a few bonus yarns too!

I also had big plans last week to start a new lace project, Laminaria, and also work on Zephyros plus I dyed roving that I wanted to spin. I did none of those things. I did dye the roving.
Roving
But I didn't spin it.

I did work on a project that I really like but just haven't given enough time to, the Essential Tank. I finished the back and started the front and I am more then halfway through the front. I figured if I didn't crank this baby out then I would not be able to wear it anytime soon. It is done in the Spritely Goods Fey, which is fingering superwash merino.
Essential Tank
Even though it is lace and I will for sure have to wear something under it I am worried it will be too hot for summertime. So now is my window of opportunity to finish it and wear it. So everything else is on hold until it is done.
Esssential Tank Close Up
I mean look at that color. Great even in lace.

I plan to get back to the 2 lace projects as soon as this one is done, oh yeah, and the spinning. Too bad I don't have more time.

It's Done!

Secret of the Stole is finished!

Secret of the Stole 2 - Done

Secret of the Stole 2 - Done - Full shot

It was a little hard to photograph it as there was a constant breeze that kept blowing it around but I think you get the idea. The yarn was a dream to work with and blocked out really well. The color is hard to capture but it is really beautiful. I used the Funky Carolina Lace in the color Carolina. I used size 4 needles with it which worked out well, lacy but not to holey.

It could be yours if we get to that $500 mark We are there! If you don't already know about it take a look at the other prizes and rules here.

I started swatching for Laminaria from Knitty as I was really unsure about those 2 into 9 and 3 into 9 stitches. They turned out to be not hard to work at all so I think this will be my next project along with Zephyros. I know others have totally lost the love on this pattern as it has had quite a few mistakes in it but I think I am going to push on as I have nothing to rip back due to the mistakes. Hopefully they have all been corrected now.

This is the yarn I plan to use on Laminaria.
Yarn Chef Creme Brulee

It is from the Yarn Chef and I love the color.

~*...~*~*..~* I am so excited! *~.~*...*~

The fundraiser/contest (click on it for more info) is moving along and I am so excited with the donations people have made! We are up to (edited total) $445 so far and with just over a month to go I sure hope we get to that $500 mark. The SotS2 is almost done and I sure would love to give it to somebody. I have been training already for the walk as 60 miles is WAY more then I could do right now but every day it gets a little easier and every time I get a donation I feel a sense of pride towards the wonderful knitting community that is helping out. So thanks to all the donors so far and the others that are sure to come.

Here is the SotS2 through Clue 8 and Clue 9 comes out tomorrow! A few more days work on it and it should be done.
SotS2 Through clue 8

Of course I got my Change of Seasons Lace club shipment in recently. It came with a fun looking pattern and some Jaggerspun Heather 2/8 yarn. I was kind of bummed that the yarn was not hand dyed as I thought it would be since the club did say exclusive yarns/colors but it is a nice shade of green.
Zephyros Yarn

I figured since the SotS2 was almost done that I should cast on. Plus the construction is different then I have done before so that makes it fun too. I am now cruising along on it after a failed first attempt that had nothing to do with the errata just knitter error.
Zephyros in Progress
I will warn you that this yarn only like to be frogged very gently as I noticed thinning spots in the yarn after my frogging. Since we have been told there is plenty of yarn I just cut that section off. I will reserve my review of the yarn until after it is done and blocked since right now it is not my favorite but maybe after a bath it will soften up.

I am also really interested in a new pattern on Knitty. Laminaria looks like a great shawl and some of those stitches really sound like a challenge. I think I might just swatch some of them to see if I can handle it as I really would be bummed to get into it and then find them too fiddly to work. I mean 2 into 9 star!?! Crazy but it sure makes for a nice looking piece.

Moving Along

I have been working on my SotS2 and I am now done with clue 7. It is looking really nice and should be VERY nice when it is done. Only 2 more clues to go!
SotS2

This could still be yours but at the rate we are going I am not sure if we will get to that magic $500 mark but I sure hope we do! You can donate here. Detail are in the sidebar by clicking on Yarn for the Cure.

I did get my first donation and I could not of been more thrilled. Not only did she donate $50 but she is also a breast cancer survivor! I also found it really special because she does not even know me just felt like she wanted to, you can't beat that!

I also went to my first 3 Day meeting and found it really inspirational. The presentation and the woman giving it were both very good. Makes me even more excited about doing this! If any one else wants to join me we could always form a team. San Diego in November is pretty nice.

I did get some yarn the other day from my favorite, Spritely Goods aka Stephanie. Remember I had asked her to custom dye me some yarn. Well, she did and here it is.
Spritely Goods Sylph
I really think she got the colors I was looking for perfect. I also got to order a double skein so I can knit lace with it with out joining. Gotta love that! She is also going to be carrying it in her store so you can all go get some Cayli's Bouquet.
