Indigo Ripple

Wow, I sure haven't been around in a while. Between the end of school, vacation and summer school my days have been jam packed.

Vacation was great. We went with the whole family, Mom, Dad, my brother Alex(this shows the paintings he did while he was there),and my group. The weather was perfect since it had snowed and sleeted the week before but we saw nothing but sunny days and only a few drops of rain. Everyone got to do exactly what they wanted which for me meant lots of riding, sitting on the porch relaxing and fishing. The Ranch is really great and everyone who works there turns into family by the time you leave.

I finally finished the skirt, which would of been perfect for the ranch, today. I washed it first thing and then took pictures as soon as it was done. It is great. Well, better then great, it is my favorite piece ever. It is totally wearable and the denim yarn is so worth getting your hands blue since the finished fabric is really nice.

I made a few mods such as casting on for the large size for the waist band so it could sit lower and then switching to the medium size for the hip increases. I also lengthened the stockinette section to 16.5" and did 45 rows of the lace. It fits perfect. I also did a crochet chain for the drawstring using the yarn doubled. I used the Rowan Denim yarn and also used size 5 needles as others who had gone before me had.

I want to use denim yarn again as soon as possible for another skirt. I think I want to try the Elann version as it is cheaper and similar to the Rowan. Let me know if anyone has heard differently.

It is nice to be back and hopefully I will get a few more posts in this summer.

Yipee! You're back! You look amazing in that skirt! I'm dying to see how it wears/feels/looks after a few washes. I've only heard good things about the washability (word?) of this yarn. Beautiful!

I never was enthused about knitting a skirt. It just didn't seem like something I would like. But seeing it finished it is gorgeous! Great job!
