End of the Year Photos
Here is what I have been working on since my last post.

This one is out of Stitch and Bitch Nation. I did no mods on this one and used Patons Merino. It was a gift for my step-daughter.

These went with the hat. They are Peek-a-Boo Mitts. Since we are not huge mitten wearers I thought she would like the quick finger escape feature.

These were a last minute gift for my little guy's teacher. I really just winged them after reading some free patterns and used the baby cable pattern that I used on the socks I knit a few weeks back. It is super easy and fast to work but looks tough. My kind of fake out.

This is some yarn that I won from a blogless Raveler, CabinFour. As soon as I got it I knew it had to be Poinsettia from the newest Knitty.

It didn't take long but was never something I got the hang of. It required the charts the whole time. I really don't like lace that I can't read after a while. Makes keeping your place challenging.

Here is the last project. Thorpe. I had wanted to make an ear flap hat as the Christmas hat but was told, "She will never wear one of those." Of course after I mentioned it on Christmas she proceeded to say she would LOVE one. So back to knitting I went. It turned out cute and very warm. Just what she will need for her visit to Washington DC in January.
I also have Westside on the needles. I really like how this one is coming along. I might even make a second one without the brim as I like the cables a lot.
I hope everyone has a great New Year. Our plan is to stay home and celebrate. No resolutions for me except to get back into a regular workout schedule and lose a few pounds but I seem to make that one every year. I have lots of knitting projects I would like to get done but no sweater-a-month goals. Here's to a great 2009, it has to be better then 2008!

Finally Done!
I can't believe this took me so long. I guess it was the problem I had in getting the YO to line up when I joined yarn for the second half. Even after waiting this long, since last December, I still had quite a few trial and error moments. But all is good now.

I couldn't get any modeled shots as it was too windy and the shawl did nothing but blow around even these were tough. The design is my own and I really like the simplicity of it with most of the lace part coming at the ends with beads. I even did a beaded bind off which I really like. I did mine different then others I have seen so the beads are right inside the edge rather then on it which I like better since they don't seem to move around as much there. I think I may even get around to writing this one up in a form that others can understand, not just my notes on scratch paper.

New Socks
I just finished the other day another pair of socks. I decided to use up some leftover sock yarn from a lace piece I designed a while back. I love the color of the yarn but I guess I should since I had Stephanie at Spritely Goods dye it for me.

The stitch pattern is from Sensational Knitted Socks and is called Baby Cable. The rest I just winged from all my sock knitting experience.(cough, cough, wink, wink) I did do an eye of partridge heel and a basic toe, at least that is what I am calling it.
The yarn is Cayli's Bouquet in Sylph and knit on size 1.5 needles over 68 stitches, magic loop style.
I have also resurrected a long forgotten lace piece after I figured out a problem with it. So lace pictures next time.
