Lace
So I started the lace I talked about before. I dyed the yarn myself and truly hated it when it was done and in skein form but it was what I needed so I wound it into a center bull ball and started. I have to say I LOVE how it looks now. This picture is from a few rounds back but gives you an idea of the color.
It has color changes but it is not too distracting from the lace. A solid color is just not my style. So far it has been going well. No mistakes but the lace pattern is only a 4 row repeat. I think it might actually be something I wear and if not my Mom would probably like it. Worse case, as I told my husband, it is more the challenge then the finished object. Really I have been surprised that it is easier then I thought but then again I picked a fairly easy pattern. Maybe I will try a more challenging one next time. I really like Seraphim.

Ocean
I have started on my newest roving. It is a beautiful roving I bought of ebay for a song and it is super nice. I always worry about ebay but this description sounded like the seller was actually a spinner and knew her wool. It came white (my favorite color to buy) so I had to hit the dye pot with it. The roving is drip dyed as I call it. I just drip color on randomly and that's it, nothing scientific, I just make sure there is color on both sides. Here it is before spinning.
Now I have spun almost half of it and for sure plan on plying it together so the color will be a little stronger when done. This to me is the magic of spinning dyed roving vs dyeing yarn and why I almost always do The first and not the second.
Big difference, don't you think?
On the knitting front, the washcloths were gifted today and they seemed to like them. I am also about to start on a new project. I know, what about the sweater, but it is getting so heavy and hot to knit on that I felt like something lighter. When I ordered for the Dye-O-Rama swap I ordered way more yarn than I needed (of course) so I have decided to try some lace. Yes, that's right, lace. I can not believe it either but I found a shawlette pattern I like and decided it would be my first lace project. We will see how it goes.

Finished
I finished the Autumn roving on Monday night. It turned out so much more muted then I thought it would and I LOVE the colors. As I was plying it I could not help but look at it and smile. I was surprised also how much the colors met up. I made no attempt at keeping the colors in any order so they would but it just worked that way. Funny how that works.
I ended up with 265yards or a dk to worsted weight 2 ply from my scant 4oz dye job. Not to bad.
My pal got her package from the One Skein Swap and loved it. Phew! I always worry. Now I only have to put 2 more packages together for her. I also have a drip dyed roving to spin next. Pictures soon.
